When my kids were little whenever I would say things like "maybe we'll stop for ice cream." Or "if you're good, we'll go there." I would always have to follow it up with "now don't write that in stone," because my kids once they heard those words, well it was a done deal in their little heads.
Then occasionally, they would suffer disappointment.
Do you know the pain of disappointment? Has anyone ever left you down? I'm sure that we all know what that feels like.
Disappointment comes when WE EXPECT people to do, think or act one way and they don't.
What about when it is a Christian brother or sister that is letting you down? We want and hope for the best out of our fellow heirs in Christ. And it is disappointing to watch as they make excuses for letting not just us, but Christ, down.
It is disheartening to see a brother or sister slip back or shirk their services to The Lord.
Look at the following example from scripture when Jesus expected certain behavior from His loved ones and behaved differently.
I will disappoint you. I may have already acted in a way other than you expected. If that is the case I am sorry.
I do not want to disappoint Christ. I want to do, think and act as He expects me to, as much as is humanly possible.
But to do that I need to hold myself accountable to Him. And I need you to hold me accountable as well.
When it comes to my Christian walk If you see me slipping, tell me. If you see me straying, tell me.
Jesus said, "Keep watching and praying that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak. "
