One day at a time

Very often I will get myself all tangled up in planning the next few days or events.
By nature I am a planner and a very organized person. So it follows then that I am always looking past the present and on to the next thing.
But sadly, because of this behavior I am not in the now. In my head once this moment is here my brain is planning for the next.
It can be a very useful talent if I am involved in a project. I can be counted on to have my end done and finished up and then already thinking ahead about other things that might to be thought about and completed.
However, too often, I can lose the joy of the moment because mentally I am not here.
I do not want this talent to be taken away from me, and I do consider it a talent, but at the same time, I can not be dominated by the future, by my planning, by my organizing that I get overwhelmed when plans do not filter down the way I had planned them.
Sometimes God throws up obstacles just to slow me down. Sometimes I have to pray and ask God to slow me down.
Sometimes I need to remember the words of the song, "One day at a time."

One day at a time
I'm only human, I'm just a man/woman
Help me believe in what I could be
And all that I am
Show me the stairway I have to climb
Lord for my sake, help me to take
One day at a time

One day at a time sweet Jesus
That's all I'm askin' of you
Just give me the strength
To do every day what I have to do
Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Lord, help me today, show me the way
One day at a time

Do you remember when you walked among men
Well Jesus you know
If you're lookin' below, it's worse now than then
Pushin' and shovin' and crowdin' my mind
So for my sake, teach me to take
One day at a time

One day at a time sweet Jesus
That's all I'm askin' of you
Just give me the strength
To do every day what I have to do
Yesterday's gone sweet Jesus
And tomorrow may never be mine
Lord, help me today, show me the way
One day at a time

ALTERNATE 2nd VERSE:

Do you remember, when you walked among men
Well Jesus you know if you're looking below
It's worse now, than then
Cheating and stealing, violence and crime
So for my sake, teach me to take
One day at a time
